Our Treatments

Botox®

This procedure is one of the most popular cosmetic treatments in the UK and is increasingly in demand because of its effectiveness, convenience, tolerability and, perhaps most importantly, client satisfaction.

Repeated facial expressions cause lines and wrinkles to develop. Over the years these become deeper and can be permanently visible. Botox® temporarily blocks the signal to the muscle responsible and creates a softer and smoother appearance in the treated area.

Botox® FAQ

What does the treatment involve?

Very small amounts of Botox® are injected in to the target areas using a tiny needle. This blocks the impulse from the nerve to the facial muscles, reducing the contractions that cause wrinkles.

Will it hurt?

Most clients experience only minor discomfort from Botox® injections as the needle is very fine and can be gently administered.

How long does the treatment take?

The procedure is very quick and will take approximately 10-15 minutes, with no downtime you can go straight back to work!

What should I do after treatment?

You should avoid rubbing or touching the injected areas and avoid having facials or massage for 48 hours to ensure that the treatment remains at the site of injection and to prevent any infection at the injection site.  Avoid steam baths, saunas, vigorous exercise and alcohol for 48 hours.  If bruising develops, you can apply Arnica cream.  Paracetamol can be taken for mild pain post-procedure.

When will I see results?

Results can sometimes be seen soon after treatment but the effects usually start 2-5 days post-treatment, however, the full effect will be seen after two weeks.

How long will it last?

Treatment usually needs to be repeated every 3-6 months.  Clinical trials do suggest that people who have regular treatment over the first year (ie every three months)will only need bi-annual treatments after this.

Are there any risks or side effects?

Short-term: Most people experience no side effects, however, as with any injection there is always a risk of bruising, redness, slight discomfort and swelling at the site.  If this does occur it is often short-lived and can be relieved with a cold compress and mild pain-relief such as Paracetamol. Rarely but more serious side effects include muscle weakness away from the site of injection, allergic reaction and eyelid drooping, all of which are discussed at your consultation. Long-term: BOTOX® is currently used in over 70 countries worldwide and there has been no evidence to date of any long-term safety concerns associated with the treatment.

Dermal Fillers and Profhilo

Young healthy skin contains an abundance of a naturally hydrating substance called Hyaluronic Acid. As you age, hyaluronic acid reduces and this causes your skin to lose structure and volume. Dermal fillers such as Juvederm® are a group of injectable gels which are designed to plump up the skin and re-add volume. Hyaluronic Acid occurs naturally in many body tissues including our joints and in our skin.  Hyaluronic Acid binds to water in the skin, locking in moisture. By introducing HA under the skin, volume which has been lost through ageing will re-appear creating a smoother, youthful appearance. The HA will attract water to it further bringing hydration to the area leading to fresh, revitalized skin.

Hyaluronic Acid has been used safely in medical applications for many years, including eye surgery and in arthritic joints.

Profhilo is the first BDDE-free stabilised injectable hyaluronic acid (HA) based product for treating skin laxity.

With one of the highest concentrations of HA on the market (64mg / 2ml) it is not only boosting and hydrating the skin, but also remodels the ageing and sagging tissue.

Profhilo delivers great results as a treatment on its own or in combination with other aesthetics treatments currently on offer.

Dermal Fillers and Profhilo FAQ

Are Dermal Fillers permanent?

No, we use non-permanent fillers that last for 9–12 months in the face and 6 months in the lips. Some people can be good retainers of this product and it can last longer.

What does the treatment involve?

You will need a full consultation and if you are suitable for treatment we can proceed. You will be asked to sit/lie on a couch and made comfortable. Your skin will be prepared with cleansing, and a numbing cream will be applied. When the area is ready the Dermal Filler will be administered.  You will be given after-care advice and details of what to expect following treatment. Then you can return to your normal activities.

Will it hurt?

Dermal Fillers can be slightly uncomfortable depending on the depth on injection needed. However, during the preparation of your skin an anesthetic cream will be applied to the area to aid your comfort, plus most of the Dermal Fillers we use have local anesthetic mixed in with them too to further minimise any discomfort.

How long does the treatment take?

The length of treatment will depend on the area being filled but generally the procedure takes around 30 minutes.

What should I do after treatment?

Following your treatment you can expect some local swelling and maybe bruising, a cold compress may help ease this, and arnica cream may be recommended to encourage the bruise to come out.  It is often asked that you avoid any vigorous exercise or sun exposure for 24-48hrs.  Some medications may be better avoided

When will I see results?

Dermal Fillers work instantly so you will see the results straight away.

Are there any risks or side effects?

Short term side effects can include redness, swelling, pain, itching, bruising or tenderness at the injection site, these can be relieved with a cold compress, paracetamol and Arnica cream if you have no allergies. There is always a risk of an allergic reaction, but this is extremely rare. There is also a risk of infection, this is why it is vital to be treated in a clinically safe environment where stringent sterile precautions can be taken and it’s absolutely necessary to follow the after-care instructions which will be given to you. There is no evidence to date of any long-term safety concerns associated with the treatment, as the body naturally metabolises the product over time. Pregnant or breast-feeding mothers are also contraindicated to treatment.

Lip Enhancement

Over time the sun, the elements, smoking and the ageing process take their toll on the lips. Vertical wrinkles or 'smoker's lines' begin to appear, causing your lipstick line to bleed, the corners of the mouth begin to droop and the lips appear to 'deflate' and lose their youthful fullness.

Lip Augmentation is a simple technique which takes only a few minutes to perform. Ageing lips can be rejuvenated and less full lips can be plumped.

Alumier Skin Care and Peels FAQ

What’s involved in the treatment?

Professional Dermal Peeling involves the application of a chemical solution to the skin in order to induce a controlled mild, moderate or deep exfoliation and rejuvenation of the skin, thus improving the quality and radiance of the skin leaving it look brighter and fresher immediately after treatment.

Will it hurt?

The treatments are not painful, but you can expect a warm sensation during the acid solution's action on the skin. The acid solution is removed after a set time and soothing creams and serums are applied.

How many peels does it take to notice an improvement?

Results are visible from the first session. After 3-5 sessions, fine lines appear reduced, pigment spots diminished and pores tightened to visibly rejuvenate the skin.

When should I start skin peeling treatments?

Peels suit everyone (men and women but NOT pregnant women) who want to maintain clear, healthy looking skin. In younger clients, it is effective on acne and acne scarring. It is also particularly recommended for treating wrinkles, loss of skin elasticity, dull skin, hyperpigmentation and skin imperfections.

Are there any risks or side effect?

Potential side effects will be discussed with you at your consultation. The normal, temporary side effects after a skin peel treatment are not severe, but may include: redness, flaking skin, itchy skin,  slight irritation, sensitivity to the sun, allergic reaction (for those with an allergy to aspirin). You may also notice a white ‘frosting’ on your skin following a treatment. This is harmless and is due to the formation of salicylic acid crystals, which you can easily wash or wipe off. Rare side effects include scarring, changes in pigmentation, blisters, scabbing, crusting or extreme sensitivity.

Cheek Augmentation

Cheek enhancement is a procedure designed to replace volume loss in the cheeks. As loss of volume causes a flattening out of the mid-face, augmentation of the cheeks using Hyaluronic Acid lifts the area, eliminating sagging and adding youthful definition.
